#MAKINGSTRIDES - ELEVATING YOUNG WOMEN IN TECH THROUGH 3D DIGITAL FASHION

The Fabricant joined forces with adidas x Karlie Kloss to host a 3D digital fashion competition to elevate young women creators and show a new creative entry route into tech.  The initiative  was open for all genders, recognizing the importance of engaging everyone on the issue of an equal and representative tech space.

For the launch of the #makingstrides initiative, The Fabricant released a free 3D iteration of the Wind.RDY Parka Jacket from the adidas x Karlie Kloss collection. We enlisted two established women 3D creators, Blake Kathryn and RubyGloom, to reinterpret the jacket and asked the world’s emerging digital creators to let their imagination run wild and create, share and submit their own designs.

As a part of The Fabricant’s ongoing commitment to grow talent in the digital creator community, we offered a series of free Twitch webinars open to anyone who wished to participate. The webinars covered everything from how to personalize a 3D File, add a new avatar, change the background and render, and how to upload artwork into blockchain. On our Discord channel participating creators could share their process and ask help from others in the global digital fashion community.

The Top20 designs were selected and auctioned on KnownOrigin, a decentralized crypto art platform, providing global visibility and long-term monetisation for the artists. Purchasers were invited to make a voluntary donation to Kode with Klossy, founded by Karlie Kloss, to fund free coding camps for young girls.

From The Fabricant, a sincere thank you to every single artist that submitted. We were blown away by the diverse, creative and unique responses to the challenge. For us, this moment is a beginning, not an end. Let’s continue to collaborate and co-create, let’s all keep #makingstrides

We believe in every one of them. We feel the final twenty creations represent the intentions behind the #makingstrides competition, which is an initiative to elevate and enable women in tech through the vast creative potential of the 3D digital fashion world. There was no gender bar to participation, as we believe everyone is an ally to the cause of realising an equal and representative tech space.
